ESL News Stories is a digital learning resource operated by Aron English (애런영어).

We respect your privacy. This policy explains how we handle personal data when you visit ESLNewsStories.com, create an account session, or use paid membership features.

1. What information we collect

We collect limited account, usage, and membership-related information. Information we may process includes:

• email address, if you sign in by email or use an account feature
• basic account identifiers returned by our authentication provider
• authentication session status stored in an essential first-party cookie
• basic usage data from analytics and advertising tools
• membership, billing, and transaction-related records if you purchase a paid membership

We also use third-party services that may process limited data to provide site features, analytics, advertising, authentication, or payment processing. These may include:

• Supabase Authentication for account login
• Google Analytics for site traffic measurement
• Google AdSense for advertising
• Polar for payment and subscription processing

These services may use cookies, device information, IP address information, or similar technical data depending on your region, browser settings, and privacy choices.

2. Cookies, consent, and regional rights

We use Google AdSense and Google Analytics with regional privacy controls.

EEA, UK, and Switzerland

• We ask for consent before setting non-essential analytics or advertising cookies.
• Before a consent choice, non-essential Google consent signals are set to denied by default.
• You can accept, reject, or update your choices through our privacy settings.

United States

• For US visitors, we honor applicable privacy signals and regional requirements through our advertising and consent configuration.
• We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals for US visitors as opt-out requests.

3. Accounts and Authentication

Users can read public lesson pages and use our standard print view without creating an account.

We use Supabase Authentication to provide:

• email sign-in
• Google OAuth login
• a first-party authenticated session used for account access and paid membership features

If we use a separate interest or update form for paid features, we store that opt-in separately from the account entitlement system and use it only for the communication you requested. We do not expose your authenticated session cookie to front-end JavaScript.

We do not allow user uploads, comments, or forums.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell personal information for money. We use third-party services (such as Supabase Authentication, Google Analytics, Google AdSense, and Polar) that may process data to provide login, measurement, advertising, and payment-related features based on your region and privacy choices.

5. Payments and Subscription Data

If you purchase a paid membership, payment and subscription processing will be handled by Polar.

That provider may process information such as:

• your email address
• selected plan and subscription status
• transaction and subscription identifiers
• billing country, tax, or invoicing details where required

We do not store full payment card details on ESL News Stories servers if payments are handled by our payment provider. We may keep limited billing and membership records for customer support, accounting, fraud prevention, legal compliance, and membership access control. Subscription management is handled through Polar's Customer Portal links in Polar emails.

6. Children's Privacy

This site is intended for use by teachers and learners aged 13 and above.
