A skeleton is the hard structure inside the human body. It is made of bones. An adult has 206 bones, but babies have more. These bones are under the skin and muscles, so we usually cannot see them.

The skull is at the top of the skeleton and protects the brain. The ribs are around the chest and protect the heart and lungs. The spine goes down the back and helps us stand straight.

The arms and legs have long bones. Joints are places where bones meet, such as the knees and elbows. They let the body bend and turn. Muscles pull on bones, and together they move the body.

The skeleton supports the body, gives the body its shape, and protects important parts inside it. It also works with muscles and joints to help us move. The skeleton is an important part of the human body.
