A hotel is a place where people stay when they are away from home. People often stay in hotels when they travel for work or go on vacation. Hotels can be small, or they can have hundreds of rooms.
Most hotel rooms have a bed, a bathroom, and a place to keep clothes and bags. Some rooms also have a desk, a television, or a small fridge. Larger hotels may have a restaurant, a swimming pool, or a gym.
When guests arrive, they usually go to the front desk. A hotel worker checks their booking and gives them a room key or key card. During their stay, guests can ask hotel workers for help or information.
Hotels have many different workers. Some welcome guests at the front desk, while others clean the rooms, prepare food, or carry bags. These workers help make the hotel comfortable.
When guests are ready to leave, they check out. They return their key and pay their bill. Then the room is cleaned for the next guest.
