A passport is a small travel document. It has important information about a person. It usually has the person’s name, photo, date of birth, and country.

People use passports when they travel to another country. At an airport or border, an officer checks the passport. The officer looks at the photo and the information. This helps the officer make sure the passport belongs to that person.

People may need to show their passport before they get on a plane. They may also need to show it when they arrive in another country.

A passport is an important document. People should keep it in a safe place. Before they travel, they should check when the passport ends. If they lose their passport, they should tell the police or a passport office quickly.
